Welcome to Wrexham is officially renewed for a fourth season

Hit documentary series 'Welcome to Wrexham' has been officially renewed for a fourth season.

The gripping series follows Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and their journey since securing majority control of Wrexham three-years ago.

In January, the series won five Emmy Awards for its second season - with co-owner Reynolds accepting one of the prizes whilst in character as Deadpool.

Previous seasons have been released in the autumn, once the football season has been wrapped up and Wrexham's fate has been confirmed.

Season three, however, was released this month - while the Welsh side continued to fight for their promotion to League One, which they did achieve.

And, despite the most recently series still currently airing, it's now been confirmed that the show has been renewed for yet another season. 

On Tuesday, Nick Grad, president of FX Entertainment, said: 'Wrexham AFC has exceeded all expectations on the pitch and with fans, scoring back-to-back promotions under the leadership of Rob and Ryan and rising to compete in League One next season. 

'Welcome to Wrexham is scoring big too, winning five Emmy Awards and a fourth season that will continue to document the team's remarkable journey and its impact on the Wrexham community and growing legion of fans worldwide.'

At the Emmys, in January, 'Welcome to Wrexham', which is shown on Disney+ in the UK, was crowned the winner in the following categories: Cinematography For A Reality Program, Unstructured Reality Program, Directing For A Reality Program, Picture Editing For An Unstructured Reality Program and Sound Mixing For A Reality Program.

Season one of the show - which covered the 2021-22 National League season - aired in late August 2022, whilst season two episodes were released the following September after they earned promotion to the Football League in the spring of 2023.

Meanwhile, the third season was only released this month and has showcased their rise in League Two, which will culminate in them achieving promotion. 

The Welsh side will be playing their football in League One next year after securing promotion

Phil Parkinson's side finished second behind Stockport County on their return to League Two and will be playing in the third tier next season. 

The fourth season could be handed an ever bigger boost after Leicester's talismanic captain Jamie Vardy was urged to continue his 'Hollywood career' and join newly-promoted Wrexham. 

Vardy scored 18 Championship goals as Leicester secured a return to the Premier League at the first time of asking, finishing top of the pile in Enzo Maresca's first season in the dugout.

As it stands, the striker's contract expires in June but talks are underway to extend his 12-year stay with the Foxes, a stint that saw him so memorably lift the Premier League trophy and also seal an FA Cup in 2021.
